We’re On A Mission: To Eliminate Outdated Panels in the Lowcountry

We were shocked to learn that the American Red Cross responds to 6 home fires every day in South Carolina. According to the National Fire Protection Association, electrical failures or malfunctions were the second leading cause of electrical fires in homes. Wiring and related equipment was involved in over two thirds of home fires.

As your partner in home safety, we are making it our mission to remove outdated panels from homes in the Lowcountry. These outdated panels have been known to have a higher risk of failure since they may not limit your wiring from becoming overloaded. These panels include:

• Federal Pacific
• Zinsco
• Challenger
• Split Bus
• Fuse Boxes
• ITE

Not sure if you have this type of panel? Here are some signs you have an unsafe panel:

• Your home was built before 1990. Many panels prior to 1990 have been recalled for safety concerns.
• Breakers trip repeatedly.
• Burning smell from your breaker box.
• Melted or scorched wires.

To ensure we accomplish our mission, our electrical team is giving away a panel replacement every month. If you know for sure you have an outdated panel, enter to win a new one. Or if you aren’t sure, have one of our electricians come out and we’ll let you know if you do.

ENTER TO WIN A NEW PANEL

The rules: No purchase is necessary to win.  The winner does not need to be an existing customer of Preferred Home Services. The panel must be installed at the primary home of the winning homeowner. The new panel must be replacing an outdated panel that is unsafe. It cannot be installed at another property or given to someone else. The home must be located in our Lowcountry Service area. Employees of Preferred Home Services are not able to be the recipient of the prize. No cash prize will be given in place of the electrical panel replacement. The prize is an electrical panel installed by an electrician of Preferred Home Services including all labor and materials. Wiring or new devices (i.e. outlets and switches)  are not included.  The winner will need to give permission for their photo or video and images of the install at their home being used in marketing materials including social media for Preferred Home Services. The winner will be selected from entries submitted in a calendar month, meaning from the first day of the month until the last day of the month. Winners will be contacted by the 10th of the following month.
