WHEN CAN I ENROLL?
Eligible new hires will need to complete enrollment before the end of your 60-day waiting period.
Current employees are eligible to enroll during the open enrollment period, from May 7th – May 17th.
NEED HELP SIGNING UP?
Meet with our benefits rep in person! Join us Tuesday, May 7th at 8:00am or 1:00pm (Charleston Location) and Friday, May 10th at 8:00am (Greenville Location) to discuss Open Enrollment and the benefits available to you at PHS. This is the perfect opportunity to learn about what is new this year and to get any questions you may have answered.
Important Reminders:
- Take the time to carefully review your current benefit elections and consider any changes that may be necessary based on your personal circumstances. If you are unsure of what your current benefits are check your Employee Navigator or see Ric Rodriguez or Dylan Garvin.
- If you have any questions or need assistance during the open enrollment process, please contact the HR department or our benefits administrator.
- Be sure to submit your completed enrollment forms or make selections online by the deadline to ensure your benefit elections are processed accurately and timely.
- If you are enrolling your spouse, child/children, you must have their social security numbers.

Medical Insurance
You’re eligible for medical insurance the first day of the month after 60 days from your date of hire. (For example you start on May 10, 60 days later would be July 10, benefits would start August 1)
Here’s a few things to know:
- Visits are covered 100% within Employer Health Network, including MUSC in Charleston, Bon Secours St. Francis in Greenville, and more.
- Choose from two plans, a CoPay Plan and a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).
- If you enroll in the HDHP, you can contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA). All employees have the option of enrolling in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA).
- If you are already enrolled, your plan election will roll over to the new plan year, unless you want to make changes. You must confirm your new plan year HSA or FSA contributions during open enrollment.
- Your Plan Year runs from June 1st-May 31st.

Dental & Vision Insurance
Dental and Vision benefits are offered via traditional plans through Equitable Benefits.
Life Insurance
Your Life Insurance benefits can be managed from the Medical Insurance portal where you can add additional coverage and designate your beneficiaries. Click here to review it or make changes to it.
Supplementary Benefits
Voluntary Life Insurance – Life insurance can help provide for your loved ones if something were to happen to you. While Preferred Home Services offers Basic Life Insurance, some employees may want to purchase additional coverage.
Voluntary Short Term and/or Long Term Disability – If you become disabled from a non-work-related injury or sickness, disability income benefits will provide a partial replacement of lost income.
Accident Insurance – Accident Insurance offers financial protection for you and your insured dependent(s) by paying a cash benefit if injured in an off-the-job accident.
Critical Illness Insurance – In the event you are diagnosed with a Critical Illness, you receive a large cash benefit paid directly to you, up to $40,000.
Virtual Health Care
Virtual Health Care, offered through First Stop Health, is offered to ALL employees enrolled in a medical plan at no additional cost. VHC includes Virtual Primary Care, Virtual Urgent Care (Telemedicine), and Virtual Mental Health Counseling. Employees not enrolled in a medical plan can opt in for Virtual Urgent Care at a low monthly cost.
